Taking measurements for a renovation project

Survey and design

Every renovation starts with a survey. The technician measures the rooms, looks at the existing services (pipes, electrics, boiler, ventilation) and listens to what you want: more light, an extra bathroom, an open kitchen, lower energy bills.

From there we prepare a proposal with plans and an itemised quote. For larger works we work with your architect, or suggest one when planning permission is needed.

You know in advance what will happen, in what order and how long it will take. For technical systems such as heating, ventilation or a new fuse board, our engineering office calculates the outputs and airflows so everything is sized right from the start.

Renovation site with partition walls being built

Home renovation and remodelling

Remodelling a home often means removing or adding walls, moving doors, converting a loft or making a cellar habitable. Our teams build partitions, suspended ceilings and insulation and finish the rooms. A load-bearing wall is only removed after a structural engineer has calculated the support needed.

The services follow: moving pipes and wastes, new electrical circuits, adapting radiators or underfloor heating, adding ventilation. Because everything is done under one roof, the trades are coordinated with each other.

During the works we keep the site as clean as possible and keep you regularly informed of progress. At handover we walk through everything together and note any final points, which we then complete.

Electrical installation on a renovation site

Renewing the building services

An older home often has outdated services: electrics without earth or with too few circuits, lead pipes, an old boiler, no ventilation. A renovation is the ideal time to renew everything at once.

Our electricians install new wiring and a new board, ready for the official inspection. Our plumbers replace the pipework, our heating engineers fit a condensing boiler or heat pump, and we add a ventilation system suited to the newly insulated home.

When insulation improves, we also recalculate the heating output: after a renovation a smaller boiler or heat pump is often enough, lowering both the investment and the running costs.

Tiling a bathroom during a renovation

Bathroom renovation

The bathroom is the most requested renovation project. We take care of everything: strip-out, plumbing, electrics, waterproofing, tiling, sanitaryware, furniture and ventilation.

A walk-in shower, a wall-hung toilet, a double basin or a bath: we adapt the design to the space and your budget. The waterproofing under the tiles gets special attention, because that is where most later problems start. Ventilation is planned from the start to keep damp and mould away.

A bathroom is usually completely refitted in two to three weeks. If you want to adapt it for later life, with a step-free shower, grab rails and a higher toilet, we plan it from the design stage.

Fitting kitchen units during a renovation

Kitchen renovation

For a new kitchen we handle everything behind the units: water, waste, electrics and extraction, in the right place for the chosen layout. Then we fit the units, worktop and appliances.

An open-plan kitchen sometimes means removing a wall or fitting a cooker hood ducted outside. We look at the options during the visit and include them in the quote.

You can buy your kitchen from a kitchen showroom and let us do the services and installation, or have everything handled by us. Floors and walls behind the units are checked too: an old pipe or a damp wall is dealt with before the new units go in.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work with architects?

Yes, with your architect or one we suggest when planning permission is needed.

How long does a renovation take?

A bathroom two to three weeks, a kitchen about the same, a whole house several months. The duration is in the quote.

Does reduced VAT apply?

For renovating a private home over ten years old, 6 % VAT may apply under conditions. We state it in the quote.

Are there renovation grants?

Regions offer grants for insulation, heating, ventilation and other works, under conditions. We explain them during the quote.

Can I stay at home during the works?

Often yes, with some organisation. We plan the phases together to limit disruption.

How do I request a quote?

Via the form, by booking a visit or on 0477 03 88 98.

Who removes the site waste?

We take site waste to the appropriate disposal routes. It is a separate item in the quote, so you know what it costs.
