Plumber fixing an urgent leak under a sink

Leaks and burst pipes

A burst hose under the sink, a split pipe after frost, a fitting that gives way in the cellar: water escaping under pressure is the most urgent plumbing problem. First reflex: close the main stopcock, usually next to the water meter.

The plumber finds the damaged section, repairs or replaces it and restores the supply. For an old lead or galvanised pipe, he tells you whether a longer section deserves replacing to avoid the next leak.

He also checks that water has not reached electrical installations and gives you a job sheet describing the cause, useful for your insurance claim.

Technician clearing a blocked toilet with a hand auger

Overflowing toilet and blocked drains

A toilet that overflows, a shower where dirty water comes up, a sink that will not drain: these are blockages that quickly become unbearable. Stop using the water and do not pour caustic products into a blocked toilet.

Our technicians clear toilets, sinks and showers with hand and electric augers that do not damage fittings. When several drains are slow at once, the blockage is in the main drain: they clear it with a high-pressure jetter.

If blockages keep coming back, a camera inspection shows the cause: roots, a displaced joint, a pipe with too little fall.

Technician repairing an electric water heater

No hot water or a leaking water heater

A water heater leaking from the bottom, a safety valve running constantly or no hot water at all also call for a quick visit. Turn off the water heater's breaker and close its cold supply if it leaks.

The technician tests the heating element and thermostat, replaces the safety group if needed or replaces the appliance when the tank is perforated. He gives you the price of each option.

For a combi boiler without hot water, our heating engineers take over: diverter valve, flow sensor or heat exchanger.

Plumber working on a wall-hung toilet

A toilet that runs or leaks at the base

A cistern that keeps running wastes a lot of water and can overflow if the overflow is blocked. A toilet leaking at the base soaks the floor and, upstairs, the ceiling below. Both deserve a quick visit.

The plumber replaces the fill valve or flush seal, including on a concealed cistern behind a flush plate, and replaces the pan connector or seal when the leak is at the base.

If the pan is cracked or very old, he can fit a new floor-standing or wall-hung toilet, with the price given before the work.

The right reflexes in a plumbing emergency

While you wait for the plumber, these steps limit the damage.

Close the main stopcock

Near the water meter, often in the cellar or a kitchen cupboard.

Cut the electricity

If water reaches sockets or appliances, switch off the circuit at the fuse box.

Protect your belongings

Mop up and move furniture and fragile items away.

Warn the neighbours

In a flat, the neighbour below and the managing agent.

Frequently asked questions

Do you really come at night and at weekends?

Yes, 7 days a week, including evenings and public holidays. The out-of-hours charge is quoted on the phone before we set off.

How quickly can a plumber arrive?

We offer the first available slot, often the same day, depending on your area and available plumbers. Call 0477 03 88 98.

How much does an emergency plumber cost?

It depends on the job, the time and the parts. The price is given before the repair; nothing is done without your agreement.

Where is my main stopcock?

Usually next to the water meter, in the cellar, a kitchen cupboard or a meter box at the front. In a flat, there may be one per apartment.

Is it always an emergency?

Not always: a dripping tap or a slow sink can wait for a weekday appointment, without the out-of-hours charge. We tell you honestly on the phone.

Can I pay on site?

Yes, with the payment options the technician offers, or by bank transfer using the reference on the invoice.

Do you speak English?

Yes. Our office answers in English, French and Dutch, and documents can be issued in English.
