Ariston combi in lockout
The Ariston boilers we see most are the Clas and Genus combis, now in their One generation, plus the premium Alteas One. They display a three-digit number when they lock out. A code in the 500s, such as 501, generally relates to ignition or flame detection.
Our engineer reads the code, then checks the probable components in turn: gas supply and valve, ignition electrode, fan, NTC sensors, pump, diverter valve, pressure sensor. On older Clas and Genus boilers, a clogged plate heat exchanger is the classic reason for weak hot water.

Earlier Ariston boilers, such as the first Clas and Genus or the Egis, are still common in rented flats. We repair them as long as parts can be found, and we let you know straight away if the part needed is no longer produced.
Electric and heat pump water heaters by Ariston
Ariston is also a leading name in water heaters: electric tanks, including the slim Velis that suits small flats, and heat pump water heaters such as the Nuos. If the water stays cold, takes ages to heat up or the safety group keeps dripping, we come and check.
On an electric tank we test the heating element, the thermostat, the safety cut-out and look for limescale. On a heat pump model we also check the fan, air intake, sensors and controls. Each part is measured before it is replaced.
When the tank itself is leaking, repair is no longer possible; we then propose a replacement sized for your household, priced in advance.
Servicing an Ariston boiler
Mandatory in Belgium, the boiler service follows an interval that depends on the Region and the fuel. On an Ariston, the engineer cleans exchanger and burner, empties the condensate trap, tests the safety devices, re-pressurises the expansion vessel if needed and carries out a combustion analysis.
He also looks at the hot water side, since hard water gradually chokes the plate exchanger of a combi. Spotting it early prevents lukewarm showers in the middle of winter. For landlords, we can service the boilers of several flats in the same building on one day and send the attestations together.
You keep the maintenance attestation. If you use the Ariston Net app or a connected thermostat, he can check that it still talks to the boiler.
What replaces a worn-out Ariston
When an Ariston combi reaches the end of its life, the right replacement depends on the home. In a small flat with one bathroom, a new condensing combi of the correct output is often the simplest choice, reusing the flue route when regulations allow.
A family house with two bathrooms gains comfort from a boiler with a hot water cylinder. In a well-insulated home, an air-to-water heat pump, the Ariston Nimbus or another make, can handle all the heating, or share it with a boiler in a hybrid system.
