The visit: look before proposing

In Brussels the flue is often the real issue. In a townhouse in Saint-Gilles or Schaerbeek, the old boiler sends its fumes up a brick chimney that will need a liner. In a block of flats, many appliances are connected to a shared flue of the CLV or shunt type.

The new boiler has to be compatible with that flue, and the co-owners sometimes have their say. It is the first point we check, so that the quote takes everything into account.

The technician also looks at the gas supply, the space around the boiler and the condensate drain, and asks how many people use the hot water at the same time.

A condensing gas boiler

Many of the boilers we replace in Brussels are atmospheric or low-temperature models from the 1990s and 2000s. They still heat, but with a clearly lower efficiency than a current condensing boiler, and parts are getting scarce.

For a flat with one bathroom, a combi boiler that also makes hot water is enough. For a house with two bathrooms used at the same time, a separate tank avoids running out of hot water in the morning.

On the day of the works we protect the way in, remove the old boiler, fit the new one, commission it and set the combustion. By the evening you have heating and hot water again.

An air-to-water heat pump

In a renovated house in Uccle, Watermael-Boitsfort or Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, with a garden or a flat roof for the outdoor unit, a heat pump can replace the boiler.

In a poorly insulated terraced house with its original cast iron radiators, a condensing boiler is often still the more sensible choice today. We tell you frankly whether your house is ready or whether the insulation should come first.

The noise of the outdoor unit matters in tight city gardens too: we choose the position so as not to disturb the neighbours.

Shared plant rooms of co-ownerships

Many Brussels buildings in Ixelles, Etterbeek or Forest are heated by a shared plant room in the basement. When it has to be renewed, the project is prepared with the syndic and the general meeting of co-owners.

Our design office studies the real needs of the building and proposes the most suitable solution: condensing boilers in cascade, a large heat pump or a hybrid installation, with zone controls.

The works are organised to keep the heating cut as short as possible. Afterwards we can take care of the servicing and repairs of the plant room.

What the Brussels rules ask

The Brussels-Capital Region has its own rules for heating, and we handle the documents. After the installation, the heating energy performance rules require an acceptance of the system, with an acceptance report to keep.

After that, a gas boiler is checked at least every two years and an oil boiler every year. We can remind you of the date and carry out the check.

Renolution grants change regularly. We tell you what to check before signing, without promising an amount.

A replacement in three steps

First the visit, free and at a time that suits you, to see the boiler, the flue and the radiators.

Then the quote: appliance, flue, connections, commissioning and removal of the old boiler are all in it. What is not in the quote is not invoiced without your new agreement.

Finally the works, in one day in most cases, with the job sheet and the invoice handed over at the end.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a replacement take?

One day for a simple replacement in the same place. Allow one or two more days if the chimney needs a liner or the boiler moves.

My building has a shared flue: is that a problem?

No, but the new boiler has to be compatible with it. We check this at the visit and contact the syndic if needed.

Is the quote free?

Yes, the visit and the quote are free and without obligation. Call 0477 03 88 98 or book online.

Which makes do you install?

The usual makes in Belgium, with parts easy to find in Brussels: Vaillant, Bulex, Viessmann, Remeha, ACV, Buderus, Saunier Duval.

Combi boiler or separate tank?

A combi is enough for a flat with one bathroom. With two bathrooms used at the same time, a separate tank is more comfortable.

Do you remove the old boiler?

Yes, removing and disposing of the old appliance is included in the quote.

How do I book?

Call 0477 03 88 98, send us a WhatsApp message or book online with the « Book an appointment » button. Tell us the municipality and, in a few words, what is going on.
