Engineer with the front cover off a gas boiler

Junkers boiler that will not start

The Cerapur is Junkers' condensing gas boiler; the Ceraclass is the non-condensing version, which you find in a great many flats fitted out in the 1990s and 2000s. Their trouble shows the same way: a flashing light, a code, or a boiler that tries to ignite and gives up.

Our engineer checks the gas supply, the ignition and detection electrode, fan and air pressure switch, the overheat stat and the water pressure. On an older Ceraclass the air pressure switch and the flue are frequent causes; on a Cerapur, a blocked condensate drain often is. When a pump or a diverter valve has seized after a long summer stop, he frees or replaces it and checks that the hot water and heating both work again before he leaves.

Check your code on our Junkers error codes page before you call. It will not tell you how to fix the boiler, but it lets us bring the right parts. The price of the repair is given beforehand.

Flue gas measurement on a gas appliance

Junkers gas water heaters

Above the kitchen sink or in the bathroom of many older homes hangs a Junkers geyser, a gas water heater that only makes hot water, instantly, when you open a tap. If it no longer lights, if the water stays cold or the flame flickers, a gas engineer needs to see it.

Typical causes are a worn pilot or igniter, a tired water diaphragm, scale in the heat exchanger or poor draught in the flue. Because the appliance burns gas inside the room, correct flue extraction is essential, and we test it every time.

If the water heater is very old, we can fit a modern one or provide hot water through a new combi boiler, with a free quote. Owners of rented flats often ask us to do this when a tenant moves out, so the next one starts with a safe, reliable appliance.

Engineer fitting a radiator valve

Servicing the boiler and the circuit

Servicing is compulsory in Belgium, at an interval that depends on the Region and the fuel. On a Junkers boiler, the engineer cleans burner and exchanger, checks safety devices and expansion vessel, empties the siphon on condensing models and performs a combustion test.

He also looks at the circuit. Radiators cold at the bottom, valves that no longer turn, pressure that keeps dropping: left alone, these shorten the boiler's life. We bleed, balance, change valves or flush the system as needed.

Keep the maintenance attestation for your landlord, insurer or a future sale.

Moving on from an old Junkers

Some Junkers boilers have passed twenty years. When parts become scarce or repair bills pile up, replacing the boiler costs less over time, and we tell you plainly when that moment has come.

Options include a new condensing combi, a system boiler with a cylinder for larger households, or an air-to-water heat pump in a well-insulated house. We compare them after a visit, in a free quote.

Our team removes the old appliance, installs and commissions the new one, and remains available for servicing and repairs. If the old boiler also heated the water, we size the new appliance so that a shower and the kitchen tap can run at the same time.

Frequently asked questions

Is Junkers still around?

In Belgium, Junkers boilers are now sold as Bosch. Existing Junkers appliances can still be serviced and repaired, and many parts are available.

Do you repair Junkers geysers?

Yes, we repair and service Junkers gas water heaters and always check the flue extraction, which is vital for safety.

Why does my Ceraclass keep stopping?

Often the air pressure switch, the flue or a sensor; it needs testing on site. Call 0477 03 88 98.

Are you linked to Junkers or Bosch?

No. We are independent and repair and service Junkers appliances with suitable parts.

My water heater smells of gas. What should I do?

Close the gas tap, open the windows, avoid electrical switches and call the gas emergency number, then us for the repair.

Can a combi boiler replace my water heater?

Yes, where the home allows it: a combi provides heating and hot water. We quote it for free after a visit.

Can I book a service on Saturday?

Yes, we work 7 days a week; any supplement is announced beforehand.

Do you have parts for old Junkers boilers?

For most Cerapur and Ceraclass models, yes, through Belgian wholesalers. For very old units we check availability before the visit, so you do not pay a trip for nothing.
