A proper Chaffoteaux service
Most Chaffoteaux boilers in Belgium are compact gas combis: the Mira C Green and the condensing Pigma, with the Talia Green for higher demand. Older non-condensing Mira and Centora boilers still run in many apartment buildings.
Servicing is a legal duty whose frequency depends on your Region and fuel. The engineer opens the casing, cleans burner and exchanger, rinses the condensate trap on condensing models, checks flue, expansion vessel and safety devices, then measures the combustion and adjusts it.
At the end, you receive a maintenance attestation and a word on any early wear he noticed, such as a noisy pump or a fan that runs unevenly. If you rent out a flat, we can send the attestation directly to you as well as to the tenant.
Breakdowns and error codes on Chaffoteaux
Chaffoteaux and Ariston are sister brands, and their recent boilers use similar three-digit error codes. The code tells the engineer which area failed: ignition, flame, water circuit, temperature sensors, fan or electronics.
On site he tests rather than guesses. Typical repairs include the ignition and detection electrodes, NTC sensors, diverter valve, pump, pressure sensor and the plate heat exchanger, which limescale blocks wherever water is hard. You get the price before anything is replaced.

On older Chaffoteaux boilers without a display, the fault shows as a light pattern instead of a number. Our engineers know these signals too, and they carry the measuring tools to confirm the cause before ordering a part, which keeps the bill down.
The heating circuit around a small combi
A compact combi such as a Mira has a fairly small pump. With sludge in the pipes, air in the radiators or stuck valves, the boiler strains, overheats and locks out, and repairing the boiler alone will not cure it.
We bleed and balance the radiators, replace faulty valves, flush the circuit when needed and make sure the pressure holds. We can also fit thermostatic valves so that every room has its own temperature.
A healthy circuit gives a quieter boiler that lasts longer and breaks down less in winter. When a radiator is simply too small for its room, we can replace it with a better-sized model at a price agreed beforehand.
Replacing a Chaffoteaux: boiler or heat pump
An old non-condensing Chaffoteaux uses noticeably more gas than a modern boiler. Once it starts failing regularly, replacement is often the wiser choice, and a condensing combi can usually go in the same spot.
In a house rather than a flat, there are more options: a boiler with a separate hot water tank for a bigger family, or an air-to-water heat pump when insulation and radiators allow, possibly in a hybrid set.
