Many houses in Belgium still have a board with porcelain or screw-in fuses, sometimes on a wooden panel. These installations do not give the protection expected today, are awkward to reset and leave no room for new circuits. Replacing them is often the first step of an electrical renovation.
The new equipment goes into a closed modular enclosure, with rails, busbars and spare space for later. Each circuit gets its own breaker, sized for the cable that runs to the rooms. The earth and neutral terminals are redone neatly.
The job is usually done in a day, with the power off for a few hours only. Before switching off, the electrician identifies every existing circuit and notes what feeds what: freezer, boiler, alarm, well pump. Nothing is forgotten when the power comes back.

A residual current device cuts the power as soon as some current escapes to earth, for example through a damp appliance or a person. When it trips at random, in the rain or when an appliance starts, it points to an insulation fault that has to be found.
The electrician tests the insulation of each circuit with a suitable meter, unplugs appliances one by one and checks outdoor sockets, damp junction boxes and heating elements. He tells a real fault apart from a tired RCD that trips too early.
The answer often lies in a better split: a single RCD for the whole house adds up the small leakage currents of every appliance. Spreading the circuits over several RCDs stops nuisance tripping and avoids losing everything for one problem.

An induction hob, a heat pump, an electric water heater or a new bathroom each need a dedicated circuit. When the board is full, appliances get added to existing circuits and the breakers end up tripping. Updating the board solves the problem at its source.
Depending on the space, the electrician enlarges the enclosure, adds a row or fits a sub-board close to the new room, in the garage or upstairs for instance. He also checks that the supply rating is enough for all the new appliances.
The bathroom and the washing machine circuit receive a more sensitive RCD, as the regulations require. Every change is added to the diagrams, so that the next inspection goes without surprises.

Replacing the board is the ideal moment to prepare a smart home. Home automation modules clip onto the rails: controlled impulse relays, dimmers, shutter controls, load shedders or energy meters per circuit.
A meter per circuit shows live what the heating, the kitchen or the charging point is using. A load shedder briefly switches off a large appliance when the total demand gets too high, so the main breaker does not trip.
We fit modules from major makes such as Niko, Hager, Schneider Electric or ABB, and leave free space in the enclosure for your next projects: solar panels, a home battery or an electric car.

Screw-in fuses from the sixties or seventies: protection of people and cables is no longer enough. A breaker that always trips on the same circuit when several appliances run: that circuit is overloaded.
A warm enclosure, a smell of hot plastic or a blackened terminal: switch off and call us. No room left for the kitchen, the charging point or the heat pump: time to update.
When selling the house, the electrical inspection may have listed remarks about the board that must be put right. And if nobody knows which breaker controls which room, clear labelling saves a lot of time.

From boards in old houses to recent buildings, after 22 years we know Belgian installations well. Neatly combed wiring, clear labels and up-to-date diagrams: any electrician can find his way around afterwards.
Our customers like the simple explanations and the site left clean. You receive the diagrams, the job sheet and the invoice from Service Technic Belgium.
Heating, air conditioning, heat pump or charging point: the same office also coordinates the electrical work, so your project has one point of contact.

Describe the problem; a photo of the unit or of the code on the display, sent on WhatsApp, helps the technician prepare.
The office tells you what the visit costs and when the technician will come, before anyone sets off.
On site, the technician explains what he found and what the repair costs, then waits for your yes. Job sheet and invoice at the end.

Our electricians work across Belgium, in Brussels, Wallonia and Flanders, for private clients and professionals.
At least a main RCD and a more sensitive one for the bathroom and the washing machine. In a modern home, spreading circuits over several RCDs avoids losing everything for one fault.
It depends on the number of circuits, the enclosure, the protection devices and the state of the wiring. After a visit you receive a free quote with a fixed price.
Not always. If the cables are sound and correctly sized, only the board is replaced. The electrician tells you frankly if some circuits must be redone.
Yes: the single-line diagram and the layout plan are updated and handed over with the board. They are asked for at the inspection.
The circuit is probably overloaded or the oven has a fault. Never fit a higher-rated breaker: have an electrician check the cable and the appliance.
A major change must be checked by an approved inspection body. We prepare the installation and the documents for it.
