Wireless home automation for flats

In a Brussels apartment building, opening walls to pull new cables is rarely possible. The answer is discreet modules placed behind the existing switches and sockets, or in the fuse board. They talk by radio and are controlled from an app, by voice or by wireless buttons stuck on the wall.

In one or two days, the lights, shutters and heating of a flat become controllable. The switches keep their role: if your phone is flat, everything works as before.

We choose widely used protocols, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave or wireless Niko Home Control, that will still be supported in ten years, not gadgets that disappear with their maker.

Lighting and scenes in a townhouse

A Brussels house on three or four floors quickly counts some forty light points. With home automation, a single button by the front door switches the whole house off when you leave, and an evening scene sets the living and dining room lights at once.

A wall touch screen or your phone replaces the rows of switches. Presence detectors light the stairwell or the cellar only when someone passes.

During a heavy renovation we lay star wiring back to the fuse board, sturdier than a radio system. The scenes are written with you, around your habits, and we show you how to change them yourself.

Heating room by room

Heating is where the savings are. Connected thermostatic heads screw onto the radiator valves: each room follows its own schedule, and bedrooms are no longer heated like the living room all day long.

A connected thermostat drives the boiler or heat pump according to the real needs of each room. It switches to away mode when you leave and restarts the heating before you come home, and it shows how long the appliance has run.

We check compatibility with your boiler first: some models talk to it to modulate the flame, which improves efficiency.

Air conditioning and summer heat

Summers are hotter, and top-floor flats in Schaerbeek or Forest quickly become stifling. Home automation lowers the shutters and blinds at the right moment, before the sun hits the glass.

If you have air conditioning, it joins the same system: started half an hour before you get home, stopped automatically when a window opens, adjusted from the office. You avoid cooling an empty flat.

Our air conditioning technicians and our electricians work together, so you have one contact for the appliance and its controls.

What changes day to day

Shutters open at sunrise and close in the evening or in strong heat, grouped by façade. During holidays, lights and shutters move on a realistic schedule to simulate presence.

A small meter in the fuse board shows what uses power, room by room or appliance by appliance. Leak and smoke detectors linked to your phone warn you even when you are at work.

Most people start with the living room or the heating, then add functions as they go, without changing what is already in place.

For landlords

In a rented home, automation has to stay simple and safe. A maximum temperature can be set to avoid overconsumption without depriving the tenant of comfort.

An alert for humidity or a leak warns you before the damage reaches the neighbour below, which matters in older Brussels buildings with wooden floors.

Classic switches stay in place: the tenant does not need the app to live normally, and the system does not depend on one person's phone.

Frequently asked questions

Can home automation be fitted without breaking walls?

Yes. Wireless modules go behind the existing switches and sockets or in the fuse board. It is the usual solution in flats.

What happens if the internet goes down?

The switches keep working, and so do the scenes stored in the central unit. Only remote control is interrupted.

Does home automation really save money?

Mainly on heating: each room is heated only when it is used. Monitoring also helps spot greedy appliances.

Is my current thermostat compatible?

We check compatibility with your boiler or heat pump during the visit. In most cases a solution exists.

Can I start with a single room?

Yes. Many customers start with the living room or the heating, then add functions on the same system.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the number of points and functions. After the free visit you receive a detailed quote.

How do I book?
