A wall unit in a living room

The wall-mounted split is the most common installation: an indoor unit high on the wall, an outdoor unit outside, linked by refrigerant pipes and a cable.

The technician chooses a position where the air spreads through the room without blowing directly on the sofa or the bed, with a short and discreet route for the pipes and a drain for the condensate.

He sizes the unit for the room: too small, it runs flat out and struggles in a heatwave; too big, it cycles on and off and dries the air.

Multi-split: several rooms, one outdoor unit

With a multi-split, several indoor units in different rooms share one outdoor unit. Each room has its own temperature and its own remote control.

It saves space on the facade and is often the right choice for a house where the living room and the bedrooms all need cooling.

The technician plans the routes of the pipes so they are as short and discreet as possible, in boxing, cupboards or the attic.

Ducted air conditioning: the invisible option

In a renovation with false ceilings, a ducted unit hidden in the ceiling distributes air through grilles in several rooms. Only the grilles and a thermostat can be seen.

It needs height in the ceiling, access for maintenance and a careful study of the ducts so the system stays quiet.

We also install ceiling cassettes for shops, offices and open-plan spaces.

The outdoor unit: placing it without bothering the neighbours

The outdoor unit needs air around it, a solid support and a position where its noise does not disturb anybody, especially at night. A flat roof, a rear facade or the ground in the garden are frequent choices.

The technician fits anti-vibration mounts, keeps the unit away from bedroom windows where possible and checks the rules of your municipality or co-ownership if the facade is visible.

In a block of flats, the agreement of the co-ownership is often needed before fitting a unit on the facade or the roof.

What the quote depends on

The number of rooms and the type of unit: wall, multi-split, ducted or cassette. The length of the pipes between the indoor and outdoor units, and how they are run.

Access and support for the outdoor unit: ground, wall bracket or roof. The electrical supply: a dedicated circuit is often needed, and sometimes an update of the fuse board.

The make and the range: quieter and more efficient units cost more but use less. After the visit you receive a free quote with a fixed price.
