Refrigerated displays and drinks fridges

In a shop, a bakery or a café, a display that stops cooling is lost turnover. The most frequent causes are a dirty condenser, a failed fan, a thermostat or controller fault, or a door that no longer closes properly.

The technician checks the temperatures, the fans, the defrost and the controller, cleans the condenser and tells you what needs replacing.

Many repairs are done on the spot; when a part must be ordered, you are told how long it will take.

Fridges and cabinets in professional kitchens

Kitchen cabinets and counters work in heat and grease, with doors opened all day long. Condensers clog quickly and seals wear.

The technician cleans the condenser, checks the seals, the defrost and the evaporator fan, and tests the temperature over a full cycle.

Regular servicing avoids most breakdowns in the middle of a busy service.

Compressor, refrigerant leak and remote condensing unit

When the compressor starts and stops quickly, or runs without cooling, the problem may be electrical (start relay, capacitor) or in the circuit (leak, blockage).

The technician measures the pressures and looks for a leak. On some appliances a repair of the circuit makes sense; on others, especially small domestic fridges, it costs more than a new appliance and he tells you so.

Appliances with a remote condensing unit, outside or in a technical room, are repaired like cold rooms.

The most frequent faults

No longer cooling: condenser, fan, thermostat, start relay or refrigerant. Frost and ice: defrost heater, timer or a door seal that leaks.

Water in or under the appliance: a blocked defrost drain or a cracked tray. Noise: a fan touching ice or a tired compressor.

Temperature that swings: a sensor, the controller or a door left ajar. Describe it on the phone and note the make and model.

How the repair goes

Call us with the make, the model and what the appliance does. The call-out cost is given before anyone leaves.

On site, the technician finds the cause and gives you the repair cost. If repairing is not worth it, he tells you frankly.

You receive the job sheet and the invoice from Service Technic Belgium.

Simple habits that avoid breakdowns

Leave a few centimetres of space behind and around the appliance so the condenser can breathe, and dust the grille at the back or underneath once or twice a year.

Do not put hot dishes straight into the fridge, check that the door closes on its own and clean the seals with warm water so they stay supple.

For a display or a kitchen cabinet, a professional service once or twice a year costs far less than a breakdown in the middle of a busy day with the stock to throw away.
