The yearly service of a pellet stove

Over a season, ash and soot build up in places you cannot reach: behind the baffles, in the exchanger tubes, in the fan housing and the flue connection. The stove draws less well, the glass blackens and the ignition becomes uncertain.

The technician takes the stove apart, cleans the combustion chamber, the exchanger, the smoke fan and the ash paths, checks the seals of the door and the glass and the condition of the igniter.

He then checks the sensors and the auger, and runs the stove to set the combustion.

Cleaning the flue and setting the combustion

A pellet stove depends on good draught. The flue connection and the duct must be clean and tight, otherwise smoke can come back into the room.

The technician checks the flue pipe and its joints and tells you when sweeping is due according to the rules. He measures the draught and adjusts the air and pellet supply for a clean flame.

A well-set stove makes less ash and clinker, keeps its glass clean longer and uses fewer pellets.

Pellet boiler and silo

For a pellet boiler that heats the whole house, the service also covers the burner, the heat exchanger, the cleaning system, the feed from the silo and the hydraulics of the plant room.

The technician checks the auger or the suction system, the level sensors and the condition of the pellets in the silo. Dust at the bottom of the silo causes feed problems and should be removed now and then.

Hydro stove connected to the radiators

A hydro stove heats water for the radiators as well as the room it stands in. Besides the stove itself, the service covers the circulating pump, the pressure, the expansion vessel and the safety valve.

The technician checks the water temperatures and that the stove and any boiler in the house work together properly.

A stove that overheats or shows a water fault often has a pump or pressure problem rather than a combustion one.

Signs a service is due

A black glass after a few hours: draught or combustion poorly set. A smell of smoke in the room: a seal, the flue or a dirty exchanger.

An ignition alarm: a worn igniter, a dirty burner pot or pellets that do not arrive. A noisy fan: dust in the housing or a tired bearing.

Consumption going up, or clinker in the burner pot: poor pellets or wrong settings. Each of these is a reason to book before the cold weeks.

How the service goes

Book online or call us and give the make and model of the stove. Do not light it on the day of the visit, so it is cold when the technician arrives.

The service takes about an hour to an hour and a half. The technician tells you what he saw and which parts to watch.

If a repair is needed, he gives you the cost first. You receive the job sheet and the invoice.

Frequently asked questions

How often should a pellet stove be serviced?

Once a year, ideally before the heating season, plus your own cleaning of the burner pot and ash pan.

Does the flue need sweeping?

Yes, at the frequency required by the rules. The technician tells you if the flue looks dirty.

Why does the glass turn black?

Usually poor draught or combustion settings, sometimes damp pellets. The service corrects the settings.

Do you service hydro stoves?

Yes, including the pump, pressure, expansion vessel and safety valve.

Do you service pellet boilers?

Yes, with the burner, exchanger, feed system and silo.

How long does the service take?

About an hour to an hour and a half, depending on the stove.

How do I book?

Call 0477 03 88 98, send us a WhatsApp message or book online with the « Book an appointment » button. Tell us the municipality and, in a few words, what is going on.
