The flat roof

On a flat roof the panels sit on tilted, ballasted frames, with no holes drilled through the waterproofing. We first check how much weight the roof can take and what state the membrane is in.

If the membrane is more than twenty years old, it is better to renew it before the installation. Otherwise the panels have to come off again when the roof needs repairing, which costs far more.

A flat roof lets you choose the direction: south for the most output per panel, or east-west to fit more panels on the same surface and produce from morning to evening.

Terraced houses and town houses

In Schaerbeek, Etterbeek, Saint-Gilles or Ixelles, many houses have a pitched roof on the garden side. Chimneys, party walls and taller neighbours cast shade at certain hours; the technician measures it rather than guessing.

In some protected areas or on a listed building, the planning department may have a say about what can be seen from the street. We tell you before the quote whether an application is likely to be needed.

Access is often the real challenge: narrow streets, no garden access, a high roof. We plan scaffolding, a ladder hoist or a cherry picker depending on the building, including the parking permit for the street.

Blocks of flats and co-ownership

In a block of flats, the roof belongs to the co-ownership and the general meeting decides. We prepare a clear file: usable surface, power, what the installation will supply, works and maintenance.

The output can supply the common parts, such as the lift, lighting, ventilation or the boiler room pump, or be shared between residents under the Brussels rules. We explain the options and the steps involved.

The managing agent receives the technical documents and the schedule. The works are done without cutting the water or the heating of the building.

Expat households and short stays

Many international families in Brussels live in their house for a few years only. In that case we look at the time you expect to stay and at what the panels will do for you during that time, and we say so honestly if the numbers do not work.

If you rent, the decision belongs to the owner. We can prepare a short file for your landlord explaining what the installation involves and what it changes for the house.

Quotes, invoices and explanations are available in English, French or Dutch.

Shops, offices and small businesses

A shop, a practice or a workshop uses most of its electricity during the day: refrigeration, lighting, air conditioning and computers run exactly when the panels produce.

We look at hour-by-hour consumption when the meter provides it, then propose a power that matches the activity. Private and professional customers, residential and commercial: the method is the same.

In a commercial building, the connection is planned with the main board, its protections and an isolation switch that is easy to find.

Sibelga, compliance inspection and commissioning

In Brussels, the grid is run by Sibelga. The installation is declared to Sibelga and passes the compliance inspection of an inspection body before it is commissioned.

We draw up the single-line diagram and the location plan, prepare the documents and connect the inverter on a dedicated circuit. The old fuse boards found in many Brussels houses often need bringing up to standard: you will know at the survey stage.

Regional support schemes exist depending on the period; we tell you where to find the current information, without promising any amount.

Battery, heat pump and repairs

A home battery stores the midday surplus for the evening. In a flat or a small house it mainly makes sense when the family uses a lot of electricity after work; the survey shows whether it does.

With a heat pump or a heat pump water heater, hot water is heated during the day with your own output.

For repairs, the technician checks the protections on the board, the inverter history and each string of panels, then gives you the price before any work, on every brand, including installations fitted by another company.

How a visit works

1

You call or book

Describe the problem; a photo of the unit or of the code on the display, sent on WhatsApp, helps the technician prepare.

2

Call-out cost first

The office tells you what the visit costs and when the technician will come, before anyone sets off.

3

Your agreement first

On site, the technician explains what he found and what the repair costs, then waits for your yes. Job sheet and invoice at the end.
