A Junkers Cerapur, Ceraclass or Euroline boiler that stops and shows EA, E9 or CE? This page explains the most common Junkers codes. Junkers boilers are made by Bosch, so many codes are shared with Bosch models. Our heating engineers repair them 7 days a week, old or recent, and tell you the price before the repair.

For decades Junkers was one of the best-selling gas boiler brands in Belgium. Many households still use a Cerapur condensing boiler, a Ceraclass combi or an older Euroline water heater-boiler. Since the brand became part of Bosch, the newer models carry the Bosch name, but the technology and the spare parts remain the same.
On these boilers, a code consists of two characters. EA is by far the most frequent: the flame was not detected. Next come E9 (a temperature limiter has tripped), CE (too little pressure in the circuit) and the fan codes C6 and C7.
Older Junkers boilers are not always easy to repair, because some parts are no longer made. Our engineer tells you honestly whether a repair is still sensible and, if not, offers a free quote for a new boiler.

The technician starts with the service menu, which shows the last faults and the exact code number. He then measures the gas pressure, the ionisation current and the temperatures, and listens to the fan and the pump.
This method avoids replacing an electrode when the real problem is a blocked condensate trap, or changing a pump when the circuit simply lacks water. You get the explanation and the price of the repair before he starts.
During a yearly service the same checks are done preventively, followed by a combustion analysis and the service attestation.
These are the codes we see most often on Junkers boilers. Your code is not listed? Call us: the engineer knows the codes of every Junkers generation.
| Code | Meaning | What the technician checks |
|---|---|---|
| EA | No flame detected during start-up | Gas supply, ionisation electrode, gas valve, flue. |
| E9 | Temperature limiter in the heat block or flue gas limiter has tripped | Water circulation, pump, heat exchanger, limiters and their wiring. |
| CE | System pressure too low (models with a pressure sensor) | Pressure in the heating circuit, leaks, expansion vessel. |
| C6 | Fan not running or air pressure switch not closing | Fan, air pressure switch and its hose, flue. |
| C7 | Fan not running | Fan, fan wiring, control board. |
| E2 | Flow temperature sensor defective | Flow sensor and its cable. |
| A7 | Hot water temperature sensor defective | Hot water sensor and its cable. |
| A8 | Communication with the controller interrupted | BUS cable, room controller. |
| D3 | Jumper missing on the external thermostat terminal (TB 1) | Connection terminal and external safety thermostat. |
| F0 | Internal fault | Connectors, wiring, control unit. |
| F7 | Flame detected while the burner is off | Electrodes, moisture on the circuit board, flue. |
| FA | Flame detected after the gas has been shut off | Gas valve block, electrodes. |
Code not in this table: call us, our technician knows it.
Smell of gas? Do not touch any switch, open the windows, leave the house and call 112 from outside. For any other code, write it down and call us: the technician knows what to look at and brings the right parts.
EA code, burner that clicks without lighting, boiler locked in the morning: ionisation electrode, gas valve or flue.
E9 after a long run, noise in the pipes: circulation, pump or fouled heat block.
CE that keeps coming back: leak in the circuit, expansion vessel or safety valve.
A7 or lukewarm water: hot water sensor, three-way valve or plate heat exchanger.

Our engineers repair and service Junkers boilers throughout Belgium, in Brussels, Wallonia and Flanders. Call us to find out when a technician can come to your home.
Our technicians work on all brands: they install, service and repair appliances from the major manufacturers. For a new installation, we recommend the model that suits your home and budget.
We buy our equipment from all the major Belgian wholesalers and suppliers, including Facq, Van Marcke and Desco: genuine parts, quickly available.
The boiler did not detect a flame when it tried to start. The usual causes are the gas supply, the ionisation electrode, the gas valve or the flue.
A temperature limiter has tripped because the boiler got too hot. Water circulation, the pump and the heat block are examined before it runs again.
CE means the pressure in the heating circuit is too low. A one-off drop is not serious, but if it keeps returning there is usually a leak or an expansion vessel problem.
Mostly yes, as Junkers is part of Bosch. Recent Bosch boilers also show a three-digit service number that gives more detail.
Write the code down and call us. Restarting a boiler again and again does not repair it.
Often yes. When parts are no longer available or the repair costs too much, we give you a free quote for a replacement.
Phone us or book a time online: a heating engineer comes with the common Junkers and Bosch parts.
