Ferroli boilers in Belgian homes

The Italian manufacturer Ferroli sells compact condensing combi boilers that are often chosen for flats and small houses. The Bluehelix and Divacondens ranges are the most common today; many older Domiproject and Domina boilers are still running.

The code we are called for most is A01: the burner did not light and the boiler locked out. Next comes F37, a water pressure that is too low, followed by sensor faults (F10, F11) and overheating (A03).

Codes F34 and F35 are worth knowing: they do not point to the boiler itself but to its power supply, which can be disturbed by a weak line or another appliance.

Combustion analysis during a boiler service

Diagnosis and service of a Ferroli

Our engineer reads the code, measures gas pressure, ionisation and temperatures, tests the pump and the pressure sensor, and only then decides which part is responsible. You are told the price of the repair before he starts.

The yearly service keeps A01 and A06 lockouts away by cleaning the burner, inspecting the electrode and the condensate siphon and analysing the combustion. You receive the service attestation afterwards.

Common Ferroli error codes

The Ferroli codes we see most. Search for yours in the box; any other code, give it to us by phone.

CodeMeaningWhat the technician checks
A01Burner does not light: no flame detected (lockout)Gas supply, ignition and detection electrode, gas valve.
A02Flame signal while the burner is offElectrode, wiring, circuit board.
A03Overheating protection triggeredCirculation, pump, air in the circuit, flow sensor.
A06No flame after the ignition phaseGas pressure, minimum gas setting, electrode.
F10Flow sensor 1 faultFlow sensor and its wiring.
F11Hot water sensor faultHot water sensor and its wiring.
F14Flow sensor 2 faultSecond flow sensor and its wiring.
F34Supply voltage below 180 VElectrical supply to the boiler.
F35Abnormal mains frequencyElectrical supply to the boiler.
F37Incorrect system water pressure (too low)Circuit pressure, leaks, pressure sensor.
F39Outdoor sensor faultOutdoor sensor and its cable.
F40System water pressure too highFilling, expansion vessel, pressure sensor.

Code not in this table: call us, our technician knows it.

Smell of gas? Do not touch any switch, open the windows, leave the house and call 112 from outside. For any other code, write it down and call us: the technician knows what to look at and brings the right parts.

A and F codes: what is the difference?

A codes: lockout

The boiler is locked and stays off. The cause (flame, overheating) needs a diagnosis by an engineer.

F codes: fault

A sensor, the pressure or the power supply is out of range. Some clear by themselves when the condition returns to normal; if not, the part is tested.

When the code returns

A code that keeps coming back always hides a real cause. Note it and call us.

Our call-out in three steps

1

Tell us the code

Model and code on the display. We plan the visit and the parts.

2

Measurement

The engineer confirms the cause with his instruments before any replacement.

3

Repair

Price announced first, repair, test, job report and invoice.

Frequently asked questions

What does A01 mean on a Ferroli boiler?

The burner did not light and the boiler has locked out. Gas supply, ignition electrode, flame detection and gas valve are inspected.

What does F37 mean?

The water pressure in the heating system is not correct, usually too low. A pressure that keeps falling points to a leak or a faulty part.

My Ferroli shows A03: is it serious?

The overheating protection has tripped. The water is not circulating well enough: pump, air in the circuit or flow sensor must be examined.

What do F34 and F35 mean?

The supply voltage is too low (F34) or the mains frequency is abnormal (F35). The electrical supply to the boiler is examined.

What should I do when a code appears?

Write it down and call us. Repeated restarts will not repair the boiler.

Do you service Ferroli boilers?

Yes, all Ferroli gas boilers, with cleaning, combustion analysis and the service attestation.

Your Ferroli shows a code?
